The Sound of VO5

As the strategist and producer behind the Sound of VO5, I developed a distinctive sonic identity that honoured the brand’s heritage while appealing to its Gen Z audience. VO5’s name, rooted in its original formula of 5 Vitamin oils, inspired me to craft a concept that embedded “5” into the music itself — using the circle of fifths and a memorable 5-note mnemonic as the foundation of the sonic logo. This approach created a seamless link between the brand’s history and its audio identity, ensuring authenticity as well as memorability.

To deliver a sound that was not only strategic but culturally relevant, I collaborated closely with Big Sync Music, who partnered on music supervision and creative development, and brought in composer Scott Verrill of Good Neighbours. Scott’s genre-bending, fresh sound perfectly captured the vibrancy and creativity of the Gen Z audience VO5 aimed to reach. Working with Big Sync’s expertise in aligning brands with culture and talent, we shaped a modern, bold, and ownable sound palette that stood out in a crowded category while staying true to VO5’s confident and playful brand personality.
